Concrete Driveway Contractor in Troy, IL
A driveway takes more abuse than any other slab around your house — every day it carries the weight of your vehicles, the freeze-thaw of an Illinois winter, and the salt that comes with it. JW Concrete Construction pours and replaces concrete driveways across Troy and the Metro East that are built to handle all of it without cracking apart after a couple seasons.

Who This Is For
Who Uses Concrete Driveways
Homeowners call us for driveway work when their existing slab is cracking, settling, or spalling apart — or when they're building a new home and need a driveway poured for the first time. We also work with property owners adding a second parking spot, a turnaround, or an RV pad off the side of an existing drive. If you're tired of patching cracks every spring, a full replacement is usually the smarter long-term move.

Choosing the Right Option
How to Decide What You Need
If your current driveway has surface cracks but a solid, level base, a replacement pour on the same footprint usually makes sense. When the slab has settled, heaved, or broken into pieces, we'll need to address the base underneath before pouring — that's a tear-out and replacement. Want room for another car or a trailer? An extension or widening ties into the existing slab with a clean joint. We'll walk the site with you and tell you straight which option fits your situation.
What to Know
Requirements & What to Expect
- We need clear access for our equipment and ready-mix truck to reach the pour location. Any vehicles need to be moved out of the work area, and the new concrete needs to cure before you drive on it — typically 5 to 7 days. We handle the base prep, forming, and finishing; you just need to keep traffic off it during curing.
- Clear access for the concrete truck and our crew to reach the pour area.

Questions & Answers
Concrete Driveways FAQ
Real questions customers ask about this specific service.
How long does a new concrete driveway take to install?+
Most residential driveways are poured in one day once the base is prepped, but you should plan on keeping vehicles off the new slab for about a week while it cures to full strength.
How thick should a concrete driveway be?+
We pour driveways at the thickness suited to the load they'll carry — passenger vehicles and typical residential use call for a standard 4-inch slab, and we go thicker for heavier vehicles or RVs.
Will my new driveway crack?+
All concrete develops some cracking over time, but proper base prep, correct control joint placement, and good drainage keep it controlled and cosmetic rather than structural.
Do you remove the old driveway before pouring a new one?+
Yes. For a replacement we tear out the existing concrete, recompact the base, and then pour the new slab so it's built on a solid foundation.
Can you widen my existing driveway?+
We can extend or widen an existing driveway by tying a new section into the old slab with a clean joint, as long as the existing concrete is in decent shape.
Do you handle drainage on driveway pours?+
We slope the slab away from your foundation and garage so water runs off rather than pooling, and we'll flag any drainage issues we see while we're on site.
